What Koto collects
Koto is a local-first application. Your screenplay files, voice profiles, and brainstorm history live on your machine in folders you control. We do not have access to your writing.
AI brainstorm sessions
When you use the brainstorm panel, your prompts and the relevant script context are sent to our proxy server, which forwards them to the AI provider (Anthropic). We do not store the content of your brainstorm sessions on our servers. Requests are forwarded in real time and not logged.
Your writing is never used for training
Your scripts, voice profiles, and brainstorm conversations are never used to train AI models — not ours, not anyone else's. Our agreement with Anthropic ensures that data sent through our API is not used for model training.
Account data
If you create a Koto account (for Pro features), we store your email address and subscription status via Supabase and Stripe. We do not store your writing or voice data on any server.
Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics (PostHog) on kotoscript.app to understand how people find and use the marketing site. The desktop app does not phone home or track usage.
